For centuries, the quest for the elusive Holy Grail has consumed Crusaders and archaeologists, inspired Arthurian legends and Hollywood blockbusters and sparked both the pen of Alfred Lord Tennyson and the comedy of Monty Python. Now, a pair of historians claim they have discovered the sacred relic inside a Spanish basilica. Does it mean that history’s greatest treasure hunt is over? Click the Grail below to find out more

Europe is set to get its own version of Las Vegas in a desert region of eastern Spain where developers plan to build 32 hotels, five theme parks and, in a Las Vegas touch, may even feature “wedding chapels” to encourage honeymoon tourism. Plans also include a stadium and a conference centre. This being Spain, a bullring is envisaged, too.

The project, approved last week by the regional government of Aragon, also calls for the construction of residential areas, an equestrian centre and a golf course on just over 2,000 hectares (5,000 acres) of land in the Los Monegros desert.

Tentatively called “Gran Escala,” which means large-scale, the development has a 17-billion-euro (25-billion-dollar) price tag that will be footed by International Leisure Development, a London-based consortium of investors.

Developers expect the complex will receive 25 million visitors per year when it is completed, below its maximum capacity of 35 million annual visitors.

The location — half-way between Madrid and Barcelona, Spain’s second city — was selected over two other possible sites in Europe because it has good transportation links, favourable tax laws and relatively low land prices.

Millions are being spent in the nearby city of Zaragoza to upgrade rail and air connections, and expand its small airport, in time for the 2008 World Fair which it will host.

Zaragoza is already connected to Madrid by a high-speed train that takes only 80 minutes to make the roughly 300-kilometre (185-mile) trip and by the time of the fair it will be linked by high-speed rail to Barcelona as well.

Sometimes, a hug is all what we need. Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.

In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal.

As this symbol of human hope spread accross the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED. What we then witness is the true spirit of humanity come together in what can only be described as awe inspiring.

In the Spirit of the free hugs campaign, PASS THIS TO A FRIEND and HUG A STRANGER! After all, If you can reach just one person…

This post also acts as a little notice to tell you that I’m off on holiday for a week! I’ll be walking around hugging friends, family and neighbours

I’ve been a Liverpool fan ever since I saw my first English Premiership match around 30 years ago. I do not talk to much about it, but I do enjoy watching them play. After this weeks game LFC qualified for next years Champions League and also took a step closer towards claiming 3rd place in the premiership this year.

Besides the fact that the coach is Spanish they also have several other Spanish blokes on the squad. Among them a fantastic goalkeeper, Pepe Reina.

What record does Pepe Reina now hold that is better than the likes of Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelaar? We can reveal that the Spanish stopper has the best post-war record of clean sheets in his first 100 starts.

Reina, who played his 100th game for Liverpool against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, has kept 55 clean sheets. Clemence kept 51 clean sheets in his first 100 starts for Liverpool, Grobbelaar has 50 while Istanbul hero Jerzy Dudek had 45 shut outs in his first 100 starts.

A bit later today Liverpool will face Chelsea in the semifinals in this years European Championship, so keep your fingers crossed.

P.S. I know this is a bit “off-topic” compared to my usual ramblings, but hey it’s a blog isn’t it

Some of you might have noticed that this blog (actually the whole site) has been inaccessible a couple of times lately. This is not caused by heavy traffic (our servers are strong and more or less dedicated) but rather my brother experimenting and moving things around. Unfortunately he moved to much on the server resulting in the disc maxing out and SQL taking a rest (well deserved).

Even so I’ve now passed 100 posts and rounded <strike>50000</strike> 56000 page views since 29th of December (2006) which I believe is great. It means that some of you actually read what I’m typing! I’ll try to keep it up and make my best effort to bring you quality content. It would however be cool to see if the server would survive a front story on Digg, but I can’t do that on my own can I (hint…).

Thanks for staying tuned!

An absolute classic! If you’ve ever wondered how to get rid of the annoying telemarketer, look no further. Watch Jerry Seinfeld’s brilliant response to a telemarketer (from his show that is). This I believe is even more fun than just being rude and hanging up (or serving a few lines from the “you-owe-me-5-cents” vocabulary).

By the way, can someone please translate this into Spanish – as I’m eager to try this on the next guy calling from one of the phone companies down/over here.

Over the last few weeks a strange noise has started to worry me when driving. It sounds like the engine is running without any oil, which in turn makes a very unpleasant tone. Very much like a opera singer missing the high (highest) C over and over again. I decided to take my car, a “beautiful” Nissan Serena, to the mechanics.

After less than an hour this nice Spanish guy had the car ready for me again which is unheared of here in Spain, mañana is more like it… Not only was the car back in perfect condition, but he also let me have it back without charging me. Would you believe it?!

I have to admit that the machanic works for the same car rental company, Autos Divasa, that sold me the car in the first place, but still. He told me that being a loyal customer (also having created their webpage) meant a lot to them and that he thought it was only fair that they kept my car in good condition. I can say nothing but thanks, and I’ll definately recommend their services to anyone who are going on holiday in the Málaga area of Spain (Costa del Sol). So if you are looking to rent a car without any hassle and with outstanding quality and support, follow the link above.

To sum it all up, this looks like yet another day in paradise
