Browzar - the privacy browser

Search and surf the web without leaving traces on your computer (almost).

Browzar is based on the Internet Explorer engine, which means it’s such a small file that it only takes seconds to download. They’ve made it disposable; so you have the choice of keeping Browzar on your PC, or downloading it each time you need to protect your privacy. You don’t even need to install it: with Browzar you just click and go…

  • No browsing history, stored files, or cookies
  • No embarrassing search auto-complete
  • No installation. Just click ‘run’ and go
  • No registration required

Even though the office firewall will probably log what you’re doing, give Browzar a try, just for the fun of it…

Spice up your error pages

When browsing through sites you are most likely going to hit an error page from time to time due to broken links, site changes etc. Most new sites (or the server) will then throw you an error page stating something like Error 404 Page not found.

Page not found

Could these pages be a bit more innovative and actually prove useful? Yes they can! Take a look at the post “404 Error Pages: Reloaded” from Smashingmagazine.com and get inspired…

Introducing PipeBytes

PipeBytes is a simple service which allows you to send
a file to a friend. The unique benefits of this service are:

  • No software to install.
  • All you need is web browser.
  • Send files of any size!
  • Your buddy could start downloading file as you upload it.
(That makes the file exchange process up to two times
faster than other web-based file exhange services!)
  • It’s private unlike BitTorrent or other P2P techologies.
The file is not shared on Internet - it is sent directly to your recepient.
  • You can watch YouTube videos while file is being transferred!

This is a very simple way to send your music, movies, presentations, executables and any type of files to anyone with just a web browser!

The service is still under development and a few common questions (and limitations) are answered in their FAQ.

Defensio the Akismet alternative

Akismet recently announced they now have a new competitor in the war against SPAM. Defensio have a similar approach, with a centralized API that gives a thumbs up or down for a comment, and some added information indicating “spamminess.”

In short (and in their own words) Defensio gives you:

  • Stellar Accuracy

You’ll deal with less spam on your blog, period.

  • Easier Spam Management

Managing your spambox will become dead simple.

  • Personalized Filtering

Your own habits will help make the filter better over time.

  • Transparency Through Statistics

Meaningful stats so that you’ll really know what’s going on.

I will be trying their service on my DEV blog, in the meanwhile - Best of luck, guys!
