You’ve never seen a laptop like this. Equipped with two displays the future of portable gaming starts here. The dual-screen design lets you game at full-screen while keeping tabs on other applications on a second, keyboard-mounted display. Equipped with our fastest G-SYNC 240 Hz screen, up to NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2080 graphics and RGB-per-key customisable lighting.

Revolutionary dual-screen design
Reap the benefits of a dual-monitor setup from anywhere with a 15.18 cm (5.98″) 1080p touchscreen mounted above the keyboard. This second screen lets you display and interact with other applications like Twitch, Discord, Spotify, OMEN Command Center, and more – without interrupting gameplay.

Max settings. Any setting.
When it comes to raw power and performance, the OMEN X 15 Laptop makes no compromises. With a 9th generation Intel® Core™ i9 processor and NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics, feel free to crank up the settings everywhere you go.

Edge-to-edge immersion
Crisp gameplay is crucial if you want to play at your best. With a high resolution and fast refresh rate[1], on-screen visuals are swift and smooth, while a micro-edge bezel display delivers edge-to-edge immersion.

Ultra-thin, performance-driven design
Experience a sleek, ultra-thin design engineered with performance and customization at the forefront. With an advanced thermal cooling solution, RGB lighting across the chassis and keyboard, and single-panel access to internals for easy upgradeability, nothing stops you from playing at your best.

With a diagonal of 201 inches (5.11 meters) the display of the C SEED 201″ is not only the world’s largest TV display but by using more than 780,000 LEDs it’s ten times brighter than a usual TV display too. This enables watching TV in any daylight environment, including direct sunshine.

Fear not, as this little list of technological gadgets and gizmos are sure to put a smile on anyone`s face, particularly if they have a passion for electronic goodies.

Amazon Kindle Fire
Amazon has decided to take on the tablet market with the Kindle Fire and while some had assumed it would be gunning for big boy Apple and the iPad, this device proves that it has a different strategy in mind. The Kindle Fire is set to be one of the most affordable Android tablets around and although it will be based on Google`s mobile operating system it will feature a heavily customised interface which is very much unique. As well as playing games, running apps and allowing you to read eBooks, the Kindle Fire will let you browse the web and use Amazon`s various cloud-based services to stream media and store your data.

Pioneer Steez
The new family of urban-oriented portable speakers from Pioneer, known collectively as Steez, will catch your attention one way or another. Angular designs with piano black plastic, brushed metal speaker grills and a built-in handle for easy long-distance hauling make these models particularly suited for use out on the street. Dance crews who want to kick out the jams at their local park or take on others at a competition will know precisely what Pioneer is aiming to achieve with the Steez range and with a dock for portable media players it is ready for the digital age.

Nintendo 3DS
A generous price drop and the incoming addition of an add-on that will endow it with an extra analogue control stick makes the Nintendo 3DS look more attractive than ever. While it is still a good family-friendly portable gaming device, it is not just for playing Nintendogz with your nephew. Titles from leading franchises like Mario and Zelda are on the way and the three dimensional effects can be scaled back or turned off altogether if they do not appeal to you. In addition the cameras mounted in the Nintendo 3DS mean you can enjoy augmented reality gaming the likes of which has never been seen before.

Doxie 2.0
This may be the most practical piece of must-have technology on the list for Christmas 2011, but it is by no means a boring addition to your collection. It is a very compact document scanner which lets you create digital copies of paper documents which can be shared via your PC, Mac or smartphone. It can also be synchronised with services such as Evernote and Google Docs, making it simple to share your documents with others. This gadget and most of the others can be bought cheaply on the internet if you use PC World discount vouchers.

Hopefully it will now be live and kicking for a long time (fingers crossed). However, it could have been worse – just look at what happened with the “Playstation servers” …

SEOUL, Korea – March 29, 2010 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, announced today that it has begun shipping samples of the industry’s highest-density memory module for server systems. The 32 gigabyte (GB) module has been designed for use in advanced servers, which require high-density and high-performance features at low-power consumption levels.

Samsung is using the industries highest-density monolithic DDR3 device – a 40-nanometer (nm) class, four gigabit (Gb) DDR3 chip – as the building block for the new 32GB module. This comes just one year after the company announced its 50nm-class 2Gb based, 16GB registered dual inline memory module (RDIMM) last March.

The highly-efficient 32GB RDIMM consists of 36 dual-die 40nm-class 4Gb DDR3 chips that can perform at equal or greater levels to a 40nm-based 16GB RDIMM with no increase in power consumption.

By equipping a dual CPU, two-way server with 32GB modules, a server system can have up to 384GB of memory. This allows for doubling the previously largest density of 192GBs per server with a power increase of less than five percent over that needed for a 16GB module-based system.

In addition, replacing 12 DRAM modules of 16GB density with just six 32GB modules would achieve a 192GB total density, while allowing the DRAM operating speed in a two-way server system to rise by 33 percent from 800 megabit per second (Mbps) to 1,066Mbps, as power is cut by 40 percent.

In high-performance, four-way servers using 16GB modules, one terabyte of DRAM would be commonplace.By using 32GB RDIMMs, Samsung is moving toward providing four-way servers with 2TB of DRAM each, a migration that it believes will spur introduction of diverse software and a broader scale of server applications.

Mass production of the 32GB RDIMM is slated to begin next month.

In an effort to enable more credible global climate change predictions, researchers from UC Berkeley believe that the way to go is a new kind of cloud supercomputer that includes 20 million processors delivering a peak performance of 200 PFlops to simulate 1-km scale climate models.

We are just about ready to transition from the Gigaflop into the Petaflop era and the new proposal from UC Berkeley and Tensilica could, at least on paper, put supercomputer development into warp speed. In a dramatic departure from current supercomputer architectures and upcoming hybrid systems, this proposed system would rely on embedded processors with minimal power consumption.

The researchers believe that 20 million Tensilica RISC processors would deliver at least 10 PFlops of sustained performance, while topping out at about 200 PFlops. The power consumption of such a system is estimated at about 4 Mega Watts and the construction and typical operation cost at about $75 million. A 200 PFlops system that is built on today’s common architecture could cost up to $1 billion and consume 200 Mega Watts – which is the equivalent of what a city with 100,000 people consumes.

In comparison, the currently fastest supercomputer tops out at 596 TFlops.

So, what would a 200 PFlop system be able to accomplish? Read the full story at TG Daily.

fit-PC is a tiny, noiseless, extremely power-efficient PC – designed by CompuLab – one of the leading vendors in embedded computing. fit-PC draws only 3-5 Watts when running Windows or Linux – consuming as little power as a standard PC does in stand-by mode. fit-PC is built of eco-friendly materials – from the lead-free computer board to the all-aluminium case. That together with its low power consumption puts fit-PC in a class of its own in green computing.

As you clearly have noticed it’s extremely tiny, measuring in at incredible 116x120x40mm. Total weight is 500g and that includes 256MB RAM, 60GB Hard disk, motherboard with integrated Geode LX display controller up to 1920×1440 and a AMD Geode LX800 500MHz CPU + a few basic ports (2xUSB 2.0, 2xEthernet, VGA and audio).

With a price tag around 250 Euro this could easily become a best-seller in the home and small business market. For more information please visit fit-pc.com.

WHY?

My brother is upgrading/replacing the drives (hard disks) which means I will get more storage space He estimates it’s going to take between 2-3 hours to copy all files on to the new drives if all goes well.

Fingers crossed…
