10 days with an empty server

As I’m sure a lot of you have noticed my blog has been gone for the last 10 days. Reason being a complete new set-up on the server which is kindly hosted by my brother by the way. I wont go in to too much details but let us just say that a new structure with increased security was needed…

Therefore, should you be running your own Linux server with Apache please feel free to share your favuorite tricks that makes your server “bullet-proofed”.

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to hearing from you all :)

Finally Taylor Swift gets her revenge

This week’s Saturday Night Live is still days away, but Taylor Swift is already getting comedic mileage over being interrupted by Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards.

According to MTV News, Swift says in an SNL promo that she’ll be the host, only to hear cast member Bill Hader tell her, “Whoops, Kanye West just called. He thinks BeyoncĂ© should host instead.” Enjoy;

Opera 10.10 and Opera Unite

I’m sure most of you already heard about the massive interest for the first official Opera 10 release, which to some extent may be triggered by the new Turbo technology. Now, it seems that there’s even more to be excited about. The forthcoming “Beta” introduces a new technology called Opera Unite, radically extending what you are able to do online.

Opera Unite harnesses the power of today’s fast connections and hardware, allowing all of us to help define the future landscape of the Web, one computer at a time. Read about how Opera Unite is going to change the way we interact on the Web on labs.opera.com.

Having been a loyal Firefox user for many years I see now that both Google Chrome and Opera makes fantastic alternatives. However, I keep asking myself, WHY does people still use IE when the competition is so clearly miles ahead??? Please feel free to share your take on this as is doesn’t make sense to me at all.

On a side note I bet all the IT staff in big corporations/companies use something other than IE, they’re simply not taking the step forward as it could require working overtime due to users not being able to adapt to any SW changes. And there’s also the obvious connection between MS Office and any of their other products – but I’m sure the competition could handle it all.
