The Dragon: HP Pavilion HDX

A few months ago I wrote a post about the new “lapdesk” from Dell and it appears that more manufacturers are following in the same direction. Yesterday HP announced an entertainment notebook dubbed “The Dragon” or Pavilion HDX. The HDX features a tilting 20.1-inch widescreen display. The HDX will compete with Dell’s XPS M2010 for users who want serious multimedia power in a quasi-portable form factor.

Ubuntu Linux on Playstation 3

The PlayStation 3 is a video game console created by Sony Corp. Aside from playing games, it also offers an option to install other operating systems such as Linux. This page gives instructions on how to install Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Edubuntu onto a PlayStation 3. The instructions contained in this page will work if you have the PlayStation 3 firmware version 1.60 or greater installed.

Shortcuts:

The links below are where the Live-CD images are located. Download the Ubuntu distribution you intend to install on the PlayStation 3.

Once you have downloaded the CD images, burn the images onto a CD.

Good-looking computers

Intel announced earlier today the winners of their design contest, Intel Core Processor Challenge. The winner was TriGem Computer from Korea with their home cinema solution Black Crystal. The company will receive approximately 300.000 dollar to put it in production and also 400.000 dollar for marketing campaigns together with Intel.

USB dongle replacement

Just after Christmas I received a package from my brother (sent well before I should point out) containing a nifty little 8 in 1 card reader with a USB connection and a 2 Gb SD memory card. Together they’ve replaced my need for a dongle as I now can switch the SD card from my camera to my “dongle” whenever I feel like it.
