A surfers dream

All surfers are waiting for THE wave. Maybe this one is a bit more than he asked for…

Messing with mother nature, and especially when she throws a Tsunami your way, isn’t normally something you would do :)

Water found in Moon samples

Researchers led by Brown geologist Alberto Saal analyzed lunar volcanic glasses, such these gathered by the Apollo 15 mission, and used a new analytic technique to detect water. The discovery strongly suggests that water has been a part of the Moon since its early existence – and perhaps since it was first created.

The discovery may force scientists to rethink the lunar past and future, although uncertainty remains about how much water exists and whether future explorers could extract it.

The water was found inside volcanic glass beads, which represent solidified magma from the early moon’s interior. The news swept through much of the scientific community even before being detailed in the journal Nature this week.

Opera security update available

Opera Software has just released the first update for Opera 9.5. The update fixes a vulnerability that has been reported in Opera, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system. The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary code. No further information is currently available.

It also fixes a less critical vulnerability that is caused due to an error when handling certain canvas functions and can be exploited to read random memory (potentially disclose sensitive information).

Opera 9.51 also includes several bug fixes and are available for all platforms as always.

Tired of the default Ubuntu theme?

Are you tired of the standard Ubuntu distro’s look and feel? If yes, the following should definitely add some new flavours to your desktop. However, it might also add a lot more (un)wanted attention as well…

Whether you are a hobby Satanist or just like dark colours (I hope the latter) then the “Ubuntu Satanic Edition - Linux for the Damned” would be the one for you. A collection of screenshots are available or you can go straight to the downloads.

For the rest (of us) there’s always the Ubuntu Christian Edition.

Viva España

Just a quick post to congratulate Spain with their great victory against Germany last night. Winning the UEFA European Championship sure was a sweet one as they’ve not had great success in these kind of Championships in decades. For me personally it was even sweeter as the only goal came after around 30 minutes by Liverpool’s own Fernando “The Man” Torres :)

I watched the game in the centre of Fuengirola, Spain. Atmosphere and all simply outstanding. Even the police drove around with flags on their cars. Now I can only hope my hearing will return to normal… :)

Once again - Congratulations!!
